Drama two Course Description

Course Description:

This course allows students to explore dramatic literature from the past to the present and learn the steps involved to writing dramatic literature through experience. Performing Arts Literature is the foundation of cultural awareness through the arts and a record of the society in which we live. This course allows students to experiment with numerous styles of theatrical writing and to test out situational scenes that they compose. This is an exciting, hands-on course, which allows students to elaborate on their performing arts skills and play analysis through dramatic literature and composition.

Drama two - Sample Lectures, lessons and tests

Consistent topics in theatre include; Auditioning, Blocking, Character Analysis, Characterization, Costuming, Dialects, Directing/Production, Elements of Design, Greek Drama, Improvisation, Improvisation, Introduction, Inductive Interpretation, Masks, Obstacles, Origins of Theatre, Pantomime, Pantomime II, Scene Analysis, Stage Make-Up. The follwoing lessons are divided into these categories.

Essential Learning's/Percentage of course

Students will understand:

  • The creative process in Theatre Arts through dramatic expression. Theatre Standard II, V – 12.5%
  • The use and fundamental skills or performance arts techniques and genres. Theatre Standard II, V – 12.5%
  • The connection of Theatre and other humanities. Theatre Standard VI – 12.5%
  • Cooperative work in building artistic collaboration. Theatre Standard I, II – 12.5%
  • The impact of theatre history on contemporary theatre arts. Theatre Standard IV, V, VI – 12.5%
  • Technical analytical applications of the Performing Arts. Theatre Standard III – 12.5%
  • Through in-depth analysis of the creative process including the fundamental skills of acting and directing. Theatre Standard II – 12.5%
